Sports represent the culture of a nation. They are meant not only for building good health, but also for bonding together the people of different classes and races. Various sports like football, baseball, basketball, soccer, boxing, golf, etc., have earned extreme popularity in USA.
For centuries, sports have been strongly associated with the American culture. Most popular sports in the world are originated in America. Sports in United States are particularly associated with high schools and universities. Sports play an important role in social and racial integration and bonding the whole America together.
The four major professional sports leagues in USA are the National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Hockey League (NHL).

Hockey is the 4th most popular sport in United States. However, ice hockey is more popular and has attracted lots of people. America has bagged a gold medal during the Winter Olympics.

This America's favorite sport secures the 5th position. The National Basketball Association (NBA) organizes all the events. Both professional and collegiate basketball are extremely popular in America.

It is the 6th most popular and inspirational sport in America. It is viewed and played by many Americans. Being widely loved sport, there are many talented golf-players in USA.

The record-holder players like John McEnroe, Chris Evert and Jimmy Connors secured the place in the hearts of millions of Americans, making tennis the 7th most popular sport.

The world-famous all-time greatest boxer, Muhammad Ali was from USA. He was the first true boxing superstar. In USA, professional boxing started in the early 20th century. In 1980s and 1990s, boxers like Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe gained extreme popularity.
