The Green Bay Packers have finally come out trumps, as winners of Super Bowl 2011! We take a look at the final clash, and how the Packers got the coveted title.
The spectators, who were a heady mix of those supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers, must have left the stadium on February 6 with a heavy heart. For the Green Bay Packers’ supporters though, it proved to be a rollicking evening. The reason? The Green Bay Packers packed off the Steelers, with the final score reading 31-25. Yes, the Packers won their 13th NFC Championship and fourth Super Bowl title. Here is a post match review.
The Green Bay Packers General Manager was evidently upbeat about the performance of his team. For Aaron Rodgers, it was a pleasure and a dream come true, to hold and admire the coveted Vince Lombardi trophy. It was a dream he had nurtured for long in his heart, watching stalwarts play when he was a kid. Aaron Rodgers, for that matter, was playing up and down all night, with over 300 yards passing and no interceptions. Although, he eventually played well enough to see the Packers home and emerge winners eventually. The win is special for the Packers, as in spite of a flurry of injuries crippling the team, they beat the odds and became Super Bowl winners once again.
Another extremely crucial reason as to why the Packers turned out to be the winners, was the fact that their offensive flank was pretty much at its best. On the other side, three turnovers was what spelled doom for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Actually, thanks to Big Ben and Rashard Mendenhall, the Steelers were never alarmingly way behind the Packers. A bit more of ball control, and the result could have been different. The turning point of the game was perhaps when Greg Jennings caught his second touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers, and the Green Bay Packers got a 28-17 lead over their rivals. This was when less than 12 minutes were left in the game. Eventually, the Packers built on their score and won.
All in all, the Packers lived up to their tradition of being in the list of the most Super Bowl wins. It was heartbreaking for the Pittsburgh Steelers, as they put up a tough fight after Christina Aguilera’s performance. After seeing the Packers perform with all their heart, as a team, one feels that this is what the mettle of Super Bowl winners looks like!
